I watched a monarch butterfly fly cross my mother’s yard and watched it land on a lilac bush beside the house.  I later captured the image using only my imagination.  The monarch butterfly in this piece is a male.  You can tell by the two dots on the base of its wings and that its frontal wings are not curved.  Females will have slanted wings and no dots.
